Hey there, fellow tennis enthusiasts It’s your girl Mia Johnson-Carter here, living the dream in Miami. Today, I want to share a story that’s all about perseverance and the unpredictable nature of tennis.
In 2018, my 40+ Women’s team advanced to the USTA League National Championships. However, it very nearly didn’t happen. The Texas Sectional Championships were washed out due to weather conditions, leaving us on the edge of our seats wondering if we’d make it to the next round.

This experience reminded me of the many challenges we face in tennis, from unexpected rain delays to injuries that can change everything in an instant. But it also taught me the importance of staying focused and adaptable.
Now, let’s talk about some exciting news in the world of tennis. Recently, top players have been withdrawing from the Korea Open, with Iga Swiatek joining the list. This has been a trending topic in search queries, highlighting the dynamic nature of professional tennis where injuries and personal decisions can significantly impact tournament outcomes.
Additionally, initiatives like the Pacific Women and Girls in Tennis – Emerging Leaders workshop are making waves in our sport. This workshop brought together eleven talented women from the Pacific region to learn, grow, and connect with each other. It’s part of Tennis Australia’s broader mission to empower women and girls in tennis, creating opportunities for them to develop their skills and become leaders within the sport.
For those interested in high school tennis, there’s some exciting news from Ohio. The Ohio Tennis Zone has been tracking top players and their performance, highlighting the growing interest in junior tennis. This trend aligns with the increasing popularity of women’s tennis, as fans and players celebrate the achievements of female athletes.
If you want, you can check out the news where I found it here.
Yours truly,
Mia
