In a recent interview, Djokovic reflected on his season, saying, “Comparing to most of my seasons throughout my career, this has been one of the worst-performing seasons in terms of results. But it was going to come at some point where I wouldn’t win slams and maintain that highest level for so many years in a row. And that’s okay, I’m happy with my gold medal from the Olympics, that was the main goal for this year. And of course, I wish that I could have gotten at least a Grand Slam title or won a big title, but it’s fine, it is what it is,” the record 24-time Major winner said following the Shanghai Masters final.
Meanwhile, Djokovic is also without a Masters title in 2024. On Sunday, he missed out on a chance to win his fifth Shanghai title after Jannik Sinner handed him a 7-6 (4) 6-3 defeat.
