Hey there, fellow tennis enthusiasts It’s your girl Mia Johnson-Carter here, living the dream in Miami. I’m super excited to share some awesome news with you all about an incredible debate in the tennis world.
Recently, I stumbled upon an article that caught my eye. It was about Gustavo Kuerten, the 3-time Roland Garros champion, who has drawn up his personal top-6 list of the best tennis players of all time. And guess what? He has surprisingly excluded Novak Djokovic from that list
Kuerten’s list includes Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, and Roger Federer. He then added Rafael Nadal to the mix but chose not to include Djokovic. When asked about his reasoning, Kuerten explained: “Why didn’t I include Djokovic? Because of my origins. My brother grew up with a poster of Borg and I grew up with a poster of McEnroe. Today I can speak and people listen to me thanks to these two players. Sampras was from another galaxy. Agassi was a more provocative guy who went beyond tennis and reached people.”
Despite Kuerten’s opinions, Djokovic is rewriting tennis history. Thanks to his 24 Grand Slam titles, the Serb is the most successful tennis player in the history of the Majors and holds numerous records that make him indisputably one of the best ever. His epic battles with Nadal and Federer have cemented his status as one of the greatest athletes of all time.
But what’s trending in the tennis world right now? Well, let’s talk about some exciting news The Pacific Women Leaders in Tennis Workshop recently took place in Fiji, bringing together eleven talented women from the Pacific region to learn, grow, and connect with each other. This initiative is part of Tennis Australia’s broader mission to empower women and girls in tennis. It’s all about creating opportunities for them to develop their skills, build confidence, and become leaders within the sport.
