Hey there, fellow tennis enthusiasts It’s your girl Mia Johnson-Carter here, living the dream in Miami. I’m super excited to share some latest news from the world of tennis with you all. Recently, there’s been a bit of a setback for one of our favorite players, Emma Raducanu.
Emma Raducanu, the 21-year-old British tennis sensation, has withdrawn from the Beijing Open due to a foot injury. This news comes after she had to retire injured from her Korea Open quarter-final in Seoul on Saturday. The injury has forced her to pull out of the Beijing draw, which was released on Monday.
Raducanu’s journey back to the top has been quite impressive. She famously won the 2021 US Open as a teenage qualifier and has been steadily climbing back up the rankings after missing most of last season due to wrist and ankle injuries. This year, she’s played 33 matches on the WTA Tour, which is just three short of her tally in 2022—the most she has played in a single season.
In Seoul, Raducanu took a medical timeout after five games against Russia’s Daria Kasatkina and decided to stop after losing the opening set. Despite these setbacks, Raducanu remains optimistic about her recovery and future performances. Here’s what she had to say:
“I’ve been working hard—especially at the start of the year and mid-part of the year—physically,” Raducanu explained. “I’ve been nursing a few niggles in the past couple of months, but I have more trust in my body now.”
Raducanu’s next scheduled appearance will be at the Wuhan Open on October 7th. Fans are eagerly waiting to see her back on the court, and with her determination and hard work, we’re sure she’ll be back stronger than ever.
As we all know, injuries are part of the game, but it’s how we bounce back that truly matters. We wish Emma all the best in her recovery and look forward to seeing her back on the court soon.
If you want, you can check out the news where I found it here.
Yours truly,
Mia
