Hey there, fellow tennis enthusiasts It’s your girl Mia Johnson-Carter here, living the dream in Miami. Today, I’m super excited to share some amazing news from the world of tennis, especially with the upcoming Delray Beach Open Legends event.
The Legends event is set to kick off the Delray Beach Open ATP tournament on February 7th and run through February 16th. This year’s lineup is packed with legendary players who have made their mark on the sport. One of the headliners is none other than the Bryan Brothers, Bob and Mike Bryan, who will be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame next year. These two are the winningest doubles team in tennis history, with an impressive 119 titles under their belt, including 16 Grand Slams and six Delray Beach Open championships. They’ve also finished as the year-end No. 1 doubles team a whopping 10 times and even won Olympic gold together in 2012!
Another exciting participant is Grand Slam champions Luke and Murphy Jensen. The Jensens brought the fun to doubles when they stormed to the 1993 French Open title and have entertained fans ever since. During their career, they played in Delray Beach nine times, reaching the doubles final in 1997. Since retiring, each has worked in broadcasting and coaching. “Dual Hand Luke” Jensen can play with either hand, even serving ambidextrously. This will be their fourth year playing together in the Delray Legends event.
Jack Sock, who retired from the pro tour in 2023, will also be making his debut in the Legends event. Sock won the Delray Beach Open singles title in 2017 and doubles titles in 2013 and 2018. He reached a career-high ranking of world No. 8 and won four Grand Slam doubles and mixed doubles titles as well as Olympic gold and bronze.
Sam Querrey, who played in the event 12 times before retiring from the ATP Tour in 2022, will play in his third Legends event. Querrey won the Delray Beach Open title in 2016 and reached a career-high ranking of No. 11, winning 10 titles along the way.
Tommy Haas, making his sixth appearance in the Legends event, has won the Delray Beach Open title twice and reached No. 2 in the world rankings. He is also known for defeating top players like Agassi, Djokovic, Federer, and Sampras multiple times throughout his career.
