Hey there, fellow tennis enthusiasts It’s your girl Mia Johnson-Carter here, living the dream in Miami. I’m super excited to share some awesome news with you all about the latest tennis action. Today, we’re diving into the thrilling match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the China Open.
Carlos Alcaraz, the No. 2 seed, faced off against his rival Jannik Sinner in a highly anticipated final. This was their 10th encounter, and it was the first time they were competing for an ATP 500 title above the 250 level. The match was nothing short of epic, lasting three hours and 21 minutes.
In the end, Alcaraz emerged victorious with a score of 6-7(6), 6-4, 7-6(3). It was a real nail-biter, folks Alcaraz came back from a set down and from 3-0 down in the third-set tiebreaker to secure the win. This victory marked his third win against Sinner in 2024 and his sixth overall.
“I never lost hope,” Alcaraz explained. “Three-love down, two mini-breaks for him, I didn’t lose hope…. But I thought, ‘Okay, I have to give everything that I have just to try to give myself the opportunity to be close.’ I played great points just to make 3-all and after that I just thought to go for it. If I lost it, at least I went for it. So that’s all I thought in that moment.”
This match highlights the incredible level of competition in tennis right now. Both players are known for their exceptional skill and determination on the court. Alcaraz’s physical and mental strength were key factors in his victory.
