In the world of tennis, where resilience and determination are paramount, British men’s number two Cameron Norrie has once again showcased his prowess. Despite an injury-hit season, Norrie has continued to impress by reaching the semi-finals of the Moselle Open. This achievement marks his 25th tour-level semi-final, a testament to his enduring talent and perseverance.
The 29-year-old Norrie moved into the last four with a hard-fought victory over Belgium’s Zizou Bergs, winning 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-1. This win was particularly significant as it came after a challenging second set tie-break, where Norrie faced two match points but managed to reset and dominate the deciding set against the 61st-ranked Bergs.
Norrie’s journey to this milestone has not been without its obstacles. He has been playing in only his third ATP event since July due to a forearm injury that ruled him out of the US Open. However, his determination and skill have allowed him to bounce back stronger than ever.
In an interview following the match, Norrie reflected on his performance: “I should have had the tie-breaker in the second set but he played quicker than me and took a bit more risk. I was not happy but I managed to reset. He’s a good player and had a really good year so it’s a really great win for me.”
Norrie will now face France’s Corentin Moutet in the semi-finals at about 14:30 GMT on Friday. Moutet advanced to this stage after Russian top seed Andrey Rublev withdrew from the tournament.
