Chiara Tamburlini: A Rising Star in Women’s Golf

Hey there, fellow tennis enthusiasts It’s your girl Mia Johnson-Carter here, living the dream in Miami. Today, I’m super excited to share some amazing news from the world of golf that caught my attention lately. While tennis is my passion, it’s always interesting to see how other sports can inspire us with their determination and skill.

Let’s talk about Chiara Tamburlini, a 24-year-old Swiss golfer who has been making waves on the Ladies European Tour (LET). She recently won the prestigious LET Rookie of the Year 2024 award, becoming the first Swiss player to achieve this honor. Chiara Tamburlini LET Rookie of the Year 2024

Tamburlini had an impressive rookie season, starting strong with a third-place finish at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open. She also secured sixth place in the individual rankings at the first date of the Aramco Team Series by PIF in Tampa. What’s even more impressive is her three tournament victories this season: the Joburg Ladies Open, Lacoste Ladies Open de France, and Wistron Ladies Open Taiwan. Alongside these wins, she had excellent placings at the Jabra Ladies Open (2nd), KPMG Women’s Irish Open (4th), and Aramco Team Series Shenzhen (T3).

In an interview, Chiara Tamburlini expressed her disbelief and pride at winning the award. “Winning the LET Rookie of the Year was the goal I set myself at the beginning of the year, a very ambitious goal, but somehow achievable, and I still can’t believe I achieved it,” she said. “It’s great to see my name next to the players who have won in previous years, and being the first Swiss player is an additional source of pride for me. I really enjoyed my rookie year, getting to know the other players and the staff.”

Tamburlini’s journey is not only about individual success but also about setting new records. She is currently leading the LET Order of Merit ahead of Belgian Manon De Roey. With two events left in the season—the Aramco Team Series by PIF in Riyadh and the Andalucia Open de Espana—if Manon De Roey doesn’t win in Riyadh, Chiara Tamburlini could win the LET Order of Merit 2024 with one round to spare. This would make her the seventh player in history to win both titles in the same season.

Yours truly,
Mia
