USTA Southern California Job Opening: Junior Competition Coordinator

The USTA Southern California is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting and developing the growth of tennis in Southern California. They feature a number of tennis programs for juniors and adults at various levels, from recreational to competitive. The Junior Events and Play Coordinator role is crucial in supporting the USTA Junior Team by providing administrative and technical assistance in junior tournament management, player development, and communications.

Key Responsibilities:
Tournament and Event Management: The coordinator will assist with running tournament desks at Junior Events across the Section. They will also manage Junior Tournament information on the USTA Southern California website, Serve Tennis, Serve Control, Tennislink, and TDM platforms.
Player Development: The role involves providing support for player development camps and related programs. This includes coordinating 10U Early Development Camps and Player Development Camps. The coordinator will manage logistics for camps, including court reservations, communication with players and coaches, and sending out invitations.
Customer Service: Providing exceptional customer service via phone and email to current and prospective USTA members, players, and parents is another critical aspect of this position.
Other Duties: The coordinator will oversee the organization and management of Parent and Player webinars. They will work with host sites to organize and sanction Early Development Camps. Additionally, they will assist in planning, hosting, and facilitating Jr Team Tennis events, including the Spring, Summer, and Fall Sectional Championships.

Qualifications:
– A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
– Advanced knowledge and experience with junior competitive tennis.
– Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
– Strong computer skills with intermediate Google Suite and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, etc.), Project management software Monday.com.
– Advanced administrative and organizational skills; ability to multitask.

Physical Requirements:
– May require extended time outdoors with temperatures above 90 degrees.
– May require lifting boxes/equipment.

– The position requires a SafePlay background check and completion of the SafeSport training. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are also necessary.

Location:
– The position is currently remote but will require the candidate to reside in the USTA Southern California section or be willing to relocate to the section.
– Travel throughout Southern California will be required to manage events/tournaments.
