Alouettes Face Critical Game in Ottawa; Redblacks Lurking in Standings

Hey there, fellow tennis enthusiasts It’s your girl Mia Johnson-Carter here, living the dream in Miami. I’m super excited to share some awesome news with you all. But before we dive into that, let’s talk about something entirely different – football Specifically, the Montreal Alouettes are gearing up for a critical game against the Ottawa Redblacks, and it’s a must-win for them.

As the leaves prepare to change color and summer turns to fall, the CFL-leading Alouettes are still in control of their own destiny. However, they’ve uncharacteristically gone two games without a win, losing at home to B.C. before recovering from an early 10-point deficit to tie Calgary on the road last Saturday. The defending Grey Cup champions know this upcoming game against the Redblacks is crucial for their standing in the East Division.

The Redblacks, only four points behind in the standings, are breathing down their necks. This Saturday’s game at TD Place is critical (3 p.m., CTV, RDS, TSN Radio-690, 98.5 FM). The Alouettes are 10-2-1, while the Redblacks have an 8-4-1 record. The teams appear to be on a collision course to represent the division in the league’s November championship game.

Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo is seen here running with the ball against the BC Lions in Montreal on Sept. 6, 2024.

Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo emphasizes the importance of this game: “It’s almost a must-win game and would put us in a situation where we’re in the driver’s seat at the end of the year. I believe in our team and the work we’ve put in this week.”

This is the second of three successive away games for Montreal, which remains undefeated (5-0-1) on the road. A win also would give the Alouettes the season series against Ottawa before they meet at Molson Stadium on Oct. 14. But the Redblacks (6-0-1) are the only CFL team yet to lose at home. Something has to give.

The Alouettes face several challenges, including slow starts and defensive issues. Defensive-end Lwal Uguak makes his season debut after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but safety Marc-Antoine Dequoy will miss another game due to concussion.

In terms of tennis news, it’s always exciting to see top players battling it out on the court. For instance, Jannik Sinner made history by qualifying for the US Open final. This achievement marks a significant milestone in Sinner’s career and rewrites part of tennis history, showcasing his talent and determination.
